The professional engineering consultant’s main aim is to assist the client in the design and implementation of a cost effective engineering installation that meets his requirements. The engineering consultant has got a strong technical knowledge of engineering regulations, designs as well as equipment available and is obliged to keep himself informed and up to date with all the new technologies available in the engineering industry.
All engineering systems are designed and evaluated according to specific and structured principles. Due to the phased design process used by the engineering consultant in the design of the engineering system the client have the opportunity to review both the design and the system costs at several stages during the design process.
Sebokwa offers its clients a fully comprehensive “one-stop”, “design-supply”, “single point responsibility” services, in any combination of design, supply, execution and/or project management depending on the project characteristics, scope of works or the specific requirements of the client whilst maintaining work procedures and safety and health aspects as stipulated by the industry and the legislation of South Africa.
All the technical members are registered with the relevant professional bodies as required and stipulated by legislation and work to the strict code of conduct of the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
The Professional members are affiliated members of the Mechanical (SAIME), Electrical (SAIEE) Engineering Institutes of South Africa and the Project Management Institute of South Africa and strictly adhere to these ethical codes.
Sebokwa Engineering is proud of the fact that all our engineering projects are designed in-house by our competent engineers on the latest available computers, all networked and with industry proven software. All drawings, documentation and duplicating there-of are also created and done in-house in our well equipped drawing office.
The ownership and management of Sebokwa Engineering resides with South African residents. We have been rating in terms of the Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment Scorecard.

The quality management plan, of Sebokwa, in general is based on the principles of the International Standards Organisation Code ISO9004 Part 2. Certain aspects pertaining to this code will have to be modified or simplified in order to suit the specific project and type of installation. As per the ISO code, this plan deals primarily with the flow and control of information and documentation with set procedures for all documentation during the design and installation phases of the project.
This plan must be viewed as a dynamic document and continual changes and updates are encouraged.
The Green Building Council of South Africa initiative addresses what are becoming the major issues of our time – excess energy consumption and the related CO2 emissions from burning carbon fuels, pollution of air, water and land, the depletion of natural resources, and the disposal of waste. It is estimated that buildings consume 40-50% of the world’s energy through their construction and ongoing operation.
Sebokwa is a member of the Green Building Council of South Africa which promotes, encourage and facilitate green building in the South African property and construction industry through market-based solutions, by:
• Promoting the practice of green building in the commercial property industry
• Facilitating the implementation of green building practice by acting as a resource centre.
• Enabling the objective measurement of green building practices by developing and operating a green building rating system, and
• Improving the knowledge and skills base of green building in the industry by enabling and offering training and education
A green building is a building which is energy efficient, resource efficient and environmentally responsible- which incorporates design, construction and operational practices that significantly reduce or eliminate its negative impact on the environment and its occupants. Building green is an opportunity to use resources efficiently and address climate change while creating healthier and more productive environments for people to live and work in.
Green buildings can reduce their consumption of energy to less than half of what a conventional building does, with similar reductions in potable water usage, runoff to sewer and solid waste. By promoting green building, the Green Building Council of South Africa can have a really significant impact on resource consumption and on combating global warming.
On a practical level, Sebokwa encompasses the use of design, materials and technology to reduce energy and resource consumption and create improved human and natural environments. Specific green building measures incorporated by Sebokwa include careful building electrical and mechanical services design to reduce heat loads, maximise the use natural light, promote the circulation of fresh air; the use of energy-efficient air-conditioning and lighting; the use of environmentally friendly, non-toxic materials and the use of recycled materials.
Our engineering designs also encompassed, where feasible, the use of renewable energy sources; and sensitivity with regard to the impact of the development on the environment.

Consulting engineering fees can be structured as follows to suit the client and the project:
Normal Consulting Fee
Normal consulting fees are determined according to the guidelines published by the Engineering Council of South Africa. These guidelines are available from the Engineering Council of South Africa or on their website.
Due to the efficiency and experience of Sebokwa engineers, most standard designs can be performed at a reduced rate since the design information and installation standards have already been created.
Hourly Consulting Fee
The hourly consulting fee will be determined as per the rates published by the Engineering Council of South Africa. The hourly rate charged for engineering services will also depend on the complexity of the project. In most cases Sebokwa may have been involved in similar projects and the complexity of the project will not be considered high.
